Funeral Merchandise

Pettit-Davis Funeral Home provides a wide and varied selection of funeral merchandise to meet the needs of all families we serve. Our Casket Selection room consists of the finest quality caskets made. We feel our families deserve nothing but the best. We can, however, acquire any style or make of casket available in the nation.
Caskets are primarily constructed of two materials: either metal or wood. The finest metals are made of bronze; following bronze in quality is copper, then stainless steel, then regular steel. Regular steels are further divided into gauges: 16 gauge, 18 gauge, and 20 gauge. 16 gauge is the heaviest regular steel and 20 gauge is the lightest metal from which caskets are constructed.

Bronze and Copper caskets will not deteriorate; you may have noticed that copper roofing material and bronze statues may be exposed to the elements for years and will never be affected. Certain types of premium grade stainless steel will also resist deterioration, while other less expensive grades are not impervious to corrosion.
Caskets are also constructed from Mahogany, Walnut, Oak, Cherry, Poplar and other types of woods. All of the metal caskets we display are protective caskets (they will seal), while the hardwood caskets are non-protective. Most families choose to place the casket in a sealed burial vault; however, this is not required by law. It is strictly a family's preference.
We also offer a wide variety of outer burial containers. Some people refer to them as vaults. However, a vault is a sealed container that is water tight and air tight. This is not required by law, although most cemeteries have a requirement of at least a concrete box or grave liner which is not air or water tight. We can acquire any brand or type of burial vault manufactured in the United States.
We can assist with floral arrangements if you wish. We will order from the florist of your choice, or you may order flowers directly from our flower shop. If a family elects to use cremation as the final method of disposition, we offer a wide variety of urns, urn vaults, and other cremation merchandise.
